Space Hotel Online

So here's the deal. Space Hotel is now available online, for free. I would love it if some of you would take a half hour out of your day and take a look at it.

About 2 years of my life went in to this thing, and we basically called in all the favours we had, to pull off an 80s period piece set in space for almost no money. I think we did a pretty good job. Thank you to everyone who lent their support in every imaginable way. I can't possibly write that list here, because it's nearly everyone I know.

It didn't get a huge run at festivals because, in all honesty, it's a tough film to program. It's really long for a short film, it's too weird to be mainstream, and it's not as weird as some of the really weird stuff out there. But at the end of the day, successes and failures taken in to account, we made EXACTLY the film we set out to make.

If you enjoy it, tell a friend. That's the only way anyone will ever see it. And if you don't like it, and just want to freak out an enemy, show them.

Let me know what you think!

Small update

The new season of Week Thus Far started up last week. We're still shooting every Monday night at the King's Head, so come on down and check out a live taping.

Also, next week on October 1st at Noon, Space Hotel will be made available online for free! So if you haven't had a chance to check it out, now is your chance.

Gimli Film Festival

Good news! The Gimli Film Festival is taking place at the end of July, and I'm involved!

The Ringer, which was written by Tim Gray, directed by yours truly and originally produced for The Week Thus Far will be screened as part of the Manitoba Short Films program. And even better, there will be an award of $1000 for the audience choice of best film.

The screening takes place Friday, July 25th at 2:00 pm at the Gimli Theatre. If you're in cottage country, come see some great local talent on display. We are in great company.

Also! My proposal for The 90s was selected as a finalist for the Emerging Filmmaker Competition. So on July 24th I have to get up in front of an audience and panel of judges to pitch my film in the hopes of winning $10,000 to make it! Wish me luck!

The Heist

This one's a little bit late. I directed and edited this longer sketch for Week Thus Far a couple of weeks ago. The script was written by Michael Blomquist and it stars Tim Gray, Andy Noble and Dana Smith.

#worldstoughestjob

Yesterday we at The Week Thus Far decided to jump on the viral video bandwagon and shoot a parody of the #worldstoughestjob video. With a brilliant script by Michael Blomquist, I shot and edited this thing all in one night. Share it up!

Hey gang! It was a big week. The show for Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba at the Pantages Playhouse went amazingly well on Saturday night. We may have over-delivered with a bit of a long show, but it really seemed like everyone enjoyed it. Or they were just being polite. Either way, good times! It should be online soon at the Week Thus Far YouTube channel.

Speaking of being online, here is the St. Patrick's Day special that we premiered at the King's Head last night. Continuing our trend of re-appropriating 90s movie titles, this one is called "Dude, Where's My Craig?"

It was a real blast to shoot and put together. I'm incredibly proud of how this turned out. It definitely has a bit more of my sensibility in terms of weirdness. This season is really turning out to be a great one, and that's a testament to everyone involved really stepping up their game and delivering at the top of their ability.

It's a big week for The Week Thus Far! This Saturday night we are doing a supersized show at the Pantages Playhouse s a fundraiser for Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba. The doors open at 7:30 pm and tickets are $20. Take a look at the Facebook Event.

As a result of this show, we've been getting a lot of publicity this week. We've got articles in:

The Winnipeg Sun

The Winnipeg Free Press

The Uniter

The Projector

As well as being featured on a number of radio stations.

In addition to this huge show, we've also finished post-production on Dude, Where's My Craig? The newest half hour pre-tape special for St. Patrick's Day. It should be airing on ShawTV this week, and we're having a premiere screening on Monday, March 24th at The King's Head Pub. After Monday it will also be available online.
